Accounting education is crucial to socioeconomic development of every nation due to variety of economic information it provides. Also, sustainable development has become very important globally following the need to achieve sustainable economic growth; therefore, every nation, organization and profession has roles to play in achieving this sustainable development, In the light of this, this paper explored emerging issues in accounting education and sustainable development in Nigeria. Qualitative method was employed for the study by reviewing extant literature on accounting education, entrepreneurship, disruptive technologies and sustainable development. The findings revealed that technological challenges brought on by artificial intelligence and cyber security affect accounting education. In conclusion, accounting education has been identified as an important field of study and relevant as panacea in the Nigerian sustainable development. It is recommended that accounting curriculum should be restructured to ensure that entrepreneurship is emphasized in core areas in accounting education and Accountants need to be well-versed in current economic and technological changes in order to be effective and remain relevant in the ever-changing environment.
