ably including the TAT, could be economically administered. Data on social background could be obtained in an interview, perhaps with a questionnaire as a guide. Such material would allow us to examine in searching detail the motives and behavior of the subjects; how they feel about their marriage, and why they feel that way; what culturally determined value-patterns distinguish the several social-class groups. The techniques are available, and the problem is a challenging one.
