Microcomputer Courseware Production and Evaluation Guidelines for Students with Learning Disabilities

The research reported in this Research Brief established the first empirically derived guidelines for the production and evaluation of microcomputer courseware for students who are learning disabled. Sixteen components specifically recommended for inclusion in courseware for this group of handicapped students were extracted from the literature. The major purpose of the study was to determine if LD teachers ranked some of these components more essential than others for the optimal benefit of their students. A second purpose was to determine if those essential components were already found in existing courseware. The study concluded that seven components were considered essential and that those seven components were not consistently found in the courseware evaluated.
