Summary Lists of Necropolis workmen provide a valuable tool for testing chronological hypotheses about the 21 st Dynasty. Their arrangement, based on decreasing homology relative to the reign of Ramesses XI, shows that only Jansen-Winkeln’s hypothesis is compatible with the dates mentioned in these lists. This indicates that the dates recorded at Thebes before the reign of Amenemope refer to the Theban high priests of Amun rather than the Tanite kings. Additionally, this method estimates a time span of 14 years between year 10 of the Renaissance and year 1 of Pinedjem I. These results are consistent with absolute dates derived from lunar observations and radiocarbon dating. An analysis of materials left by the scribe and foreman Horemkenese indicates that, as predicted by the method used in this study, he was mostly active under Menkheperre and not under Pinedjem I.
