Introduction and Objective: Early data suggest that GLP-1-RA and GLP-1/GIPRA improve A1c and weight in adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D), but data in Y/YA with T1D are more limited and features of those that do not respond are not explored. Methods: We performed a review of Y/YA with T1D who took a GLP-1RA or GLP-1/GIPRA. Demographics, BMI, timing of overweight or obesity (OO) onset, glycemia (A1c, continuous glucose monitoring), insulin dosing and gastrointestinal adverse events from date of initial GLP-1RA or GLP-1/GIPRA prescription up to 18 months of treatment were extracted. A responder was defined as ≥5% weight loss and/or ≥0.4% HbA1c decrease. Student’s t-test and chi-square tests were used for group comparison. Results: Forty-eight Y/YA were included (mean age 18.6±2.7 y, T1D duration 8.3±4.9 y, A1c 8.0±1.5%, 72.9% female, Table). GLP-1RA or GLP-1/GIPRA use led to glycemic and weight improvements and decreased insulin dosage from baseline (p0.05). Non-response was seen in 32% and correlated with OO onset prior to puberty (p=0.0275) and only a single GLP-1RA or GLP-1/GIPRA form trialed (p=0.004). Conclusion: GLP1-RA and GLP-1/GIPRA show promise in Y/YA and warrant a prospective trial. Additional research in T1D is needed regarding ideal dosing and identification of subsets of people most likely to benefit. Disclosure L.A. Waterman: None. K.J. Nadeau: None. H.K.
