Assessment of the impact of proposed works on the heritage asset The roof over the northwest (18th century) part of the building has deteriorated considerably, leading to water damage having been caused in lower parts of the building. The roof structure is formed from queen post trusses constructed using mainly machine-sawn timbers and it is considered that in order to install these trusses, the roof would have had to be removed. The current roof structure was therefore replaced at some point in the 19th-20th centuries, and as such, proposed works to repair the failing roof of the building will not cause damage to historic fabric. The works will serve to prolong the life of the fabric of the Listed Building for years to come. They are therefore positive.
