The vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 aims to transform India into a developed, knowledge-driven nation by the centenary year of independence. Higher education institutions, particularly colleges, play a crucial role in achieving this vision by producing skilled, innovative, and socially responsible citizens. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 provides a comprehensive framework for transforming the higher education system through multidisciplinary learning, skill-based education, research promotion, and institutional autonomy. This paper examines the role of colleges in implementing NEP 2020 and highlights their contribution to national development. The study uses a qualitative and descriptive research methodology based on policy documents, reports, and secondary literature. It discusses major reforms introduced by NEP 2020 such as flexible curricula, Academic Bank of Credits, research promotion, and digital education. The paper also analyses challenges faced by colleges in implementing the policy, including infrastructural limitations, lack of trained faculty, and financial constraints. The study concludes that effective implementation of NEP 2020 at the college level will significantly contribute to the development of skilled human resources, innovation, and inclusive growth, thereby supporting the national goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
