In this issue, we publish several of the scientific papers given at the 17th International Science and Engineering Conference on Optical Methods of Flow Investigation—2023 (OMFI-2023), which was held 26–30 June 2023 at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute National Research University, with the support of the Institute for Thermal Physics (Siberian Department, Russian Academy of Sciences) and the Scientific and Technological Center for Unique Instrumentation of the Russian Academy of Sciences These papers, as well as two additional papers (by V. V. Kocharovskiĭ et al . and A. S. Bobe et al. , respectively) included in the special issue, describe current research areas in the development of techniques and devices (primarily spectrographic) for optical analysis of objects. These papers can be arbitrarily divided into two groups.
