In Odaka, Fukushima Prefecture, which was affected by the nuclear accident, a facility for passing on the local history and experiences of the disaster was built by residents through the renovation of a kindergarten building that had not been demolished. This paper reports on the process leading up to its opening and the design of the exhibits and provides insight into the local heritage facility in the nuclear disaster area, which differs from a public facility.
