14 non-smoking adults, comprising 7 patients with type 2 diabetes (4 men, 3 women, BMI 24.4±1.6 kg/m2) and 7 matched control volunteers (4 men, 3 women, BMI 22.9±1.8 kg/m2). Key inclusion for T2DM: fasting glucose >7.0 mmol/l, no insulin therapy, triacylglycerol <2.0 mmol/l, and LDL-cholesterol <3.5 mmol/l. Key exclusion: macrovascular disease (ECG abnormalities, abnormal ankle-brachial index, or history of cardiovascular events), use of vasoactive medication (ACEi, ARB, NSAIDs) within 4 weeks, and use of lipid-lowering medication.
