Abstract

The resistance of natural graphite and of high purity polycrystalline graphite has been measured over a range of temperature from room temperature down to 1. 35^. The resistance of large-crystal natural graphite was found to increase with increasing temperature over the entire range. For polycrystalline graphite the resistance was found to increase smoothly as the temperature was lowered to about 20^. At this temperature the resistance begins to level off until around 5^ it is virtually independent of temperature, at a value about double the room temperature resistance. Below 5^ the resistance seems to fall slightly.
