J. Wouter Jukema is Professor of Cardiology and Head of the Department of Cardiology at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) in the Netherlands. He has been professor of cardiology since 2005, with a focus on atherothrombosis and regenerative medicine, and is co-chair of the Netherlands Heart Institute. He completed medical school at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, cardiology training at LUMC, a PhD in 1996, and an ESC fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
