The teachings of the famous theologian of Central Asia, Abu Mansur al-Maturidi, played a vector role in the formation of the worldview not only of the Muslims of Central Asia, but also of the Sunnis of Russia, Afghanistan, India, the Middle East, Iran, and even in some European regions. In this regard, it is a very urgent issue to study it and put it into scientific circulation. This article deals with the general methodology of Ta’wilah Ahl al-Sunnah tafseer, its sources, and specific issues related to the analysis of the ideas of Abu Mansur Al-Maturidi through the prism of interpretation of Surah Al-Fatiha. The analysis of the content of this sura commentary made it possible to determine the issues of Islamic law and kalam that the author raised as his interpretation. To date, attempts have already been made to scientifically edit this tafsir by researchers from Arab countries and Turkey. However, despite the fact that for Hanafi Muslims living the territory of the republics of the former USSR, this work is part of their theological tradition that has been poorly studied. In this regard, its research is an introduction into scientific circulation and translation seem very relevant.
