Corporate social responsibility disclosure: how do corporate governance, profitability, and stand-alone reports play a role?

Purpose: This study aims to examine the effect of corporate governance, profitability, and stand-alone reports on Corporate Social Responsibility Disclosure (CSRD) in manufacturing companies in the basic material sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2019-2023. Methodology/approach: This study uses a quantitative approach with secondary data obtained from financial reports and sustainability reports of sample companies, which are determined through purposive sampling. Data analysis is done with panel data regression to see the relationship between variables. Findings: The results showed that the tenure of directors, board size and stand-alone reports had a positive effect on CSRD, independent commissioners had no significant effect on CSRD, managerial ownership, audit committee and profitability had a negative and insignificant effect on CSRD. Practical and Theoretical contribution/Originality: This study is expected to provide theoretical and practical insights into the factors that influence the quality of CSRD. Theoretically, the results of this study are expected to add empirical evidence about the influence of corporate governance mechanisms, profitability, stand-alone reports in improving the quality of CSRD. Practically, this study is useful for companies to optimize CSRD practices to strengthen reputation and compliance with social and environmental regulations. Research Limitation: This research is limited to the use of cross-sectional data, the research objects used in this study only cover the basic material manufacturing sector on the IDX, so the results may not be generalized to other sectors.
