In investigating brain tumours using MRI it is difficult to diagnose type and grade of tumour , MRS is a essential mode of investigation to diagnose , which was studied in our retrospective study in our institution for past two and half years , cases presented with symptoms of brain tumours were investigated with MRS with 1.5 tesla single voxel imaging , who had implants non compatible were excluded, tumour was excised and specimen was sent to pathology department for (HPE) histopathology and the HPE was compared with the MRS data and analysed with different tumour gliomas , epidermoid, lymphomas, abscess, and grades of gliomas , analysis was done results were showing gliomas p value 0.011, lymphomas p value< 0.001, epidermoid < 0.001, abscess p value <0.001, when only with MRS p value 0.028, with MRS and HPE p value <0.001,which was significant. In review of literature also values of NAA, choline, creatine, lactate, were increased in MRS when compared to normal brain and which was correlating with post operative histopathological examination. In conclusion MRS study increases specificity and improves our ability to predict pre operative clinical, tissue diagnosis, also increases ability in grading tumours like gliomas.
