Topicality. In the current conditions of socio-economic and environmental transformation, accompanied by the challenges of wartime, the issue of effective use and conservation of natural resources is becoming particularly relevant. Nature reserves are a strategic resource not only in terms of environmental protection, but also as a source of ecosystem services, a base for sustainable tourism, education, science, biosecurity and development of local communities. At the same time, the lack of a unified methodological approach to assessing their resources complicates the realization of the potential of nature reserves in the system of public administration, spatial planning and growth economics. Addressing the issue of eliminating this gap is relevant and important for the post-war recovery of Ukraine, when there is a need to consolidate available resources, increase the efficiency of their use and develop policies that support the domestic market, increase added value and strengthen environmental safety. Aim and tasks. Based on this, the purpose of this study is to identify the problems of methodological support for the assessment of resources of nature reserves based on the analysis of: the conceptual and categorical apparatus of the selected field as the theoretical foundation of the study; conceptual principles of consolidating resources of nature reserves; approaches to the classification of natural resources of nature reserves; existing criteria, principles and methods for assessing natural resources of nature reserves. Materials and methods. In the process of the study, a complex of general scientific and specialized methods was applied, in particular, an institutional approach, retrospective and systemic analysis, as well as methods of synthesis and theoretical generalization. The source basis of the study was scientific publications of domestic and foreign authors, information and analytical reports, as well as regulatory and legal documents of Ukraine. Research results. The paper raises the problem of the imperfection of the conceptual and categorical apparatus in the nature reserve sphere. A systemic model of the relationship between environmental protection and socio-economic goals of the functioning of nature reserve areas in the context of the interaction of nature and society has been built. Existing approaches to the classification of natural resources of nature reserve areas have been supplemented - it is proposed to classify them according to the capitalization criterion. The main existing approaches to the assessment of natural resources of nature reserve areas have been studied. An algorithm for assessing natural resources of nature reserve areas has been presented. The place of their assessment in the system of management of nature reserve areas has been determined, and its methodological support has been recognized as an insufficient link. Conclusion. To increase the efficiency of the assessment and management of resources of nature reserve areas, it is necessary to develop unified standardized methods, ensure adequate financing and improve the legislative framework. The assessment of the resources of protected areas requires the introduction of methods and standards for assessing the economic activity of protected areas, which will facilitate the comparison and analysis of data at the national level. An important task is to create a single database and introduce modern technologies to increase the accuracy and efficiency of the assessment. An urgent issue is the integration of the functions, resources and opportunities for the use of protected areas into local socio-economic development. An analysis of their impact on the local economy, including job creation and infrastructure development, will help assess their overall economic contribution. These issues are complex, comprehensive, require the involvement of scientists and specialists from various fields in their solution, and require further detailed research in order to implement the results into economic practice.
