Comparative literature is a field that has developed heavily in the age of globalisation and has a crucial role to play in understanding the increasingly complex networks of interconnectedness between literary works across different cultural settings. Drawing upon data collected from survey and interview, this paper discusses the implications of globalisation for the field of comparative literature, as it relates to translation and adaptation, and digital dissemination. The integration of interdisciplinary fields such as digital humanities, transmedia studies and global cultural studies is proposed, and accepted by 85 per cent of scholars as the future direction for the field of comparative literature. The paper argues that comparative literature has become a crucial field in promoting cross-cultural dialogue, and the transmutability of cultural forms. It also demonstrates how global literary networks have been strengthened with the diffusion of the internet, and the increasing influence of the digital sphere in the field of Comparative Literature.
