The article is devoted to the life and scientific and pedagogical activity of Evgenia Fedorovna Sobotovich — an outstanding scientist, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, who made a significant contribution to the development of speech therapy, correctional pedagogy and special psychology. The work highlights the main stages of her professional path: from assistant to head of the department and corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, as well as key scientific achievements that significantly influenced the formation of the modern Ukrainian speech therapy school. The article examines in detail the formation of E. F. Sobotovich’s scientific interests, describes her research in the field of psycholinguistics, differential diagnostics of speech disorders, as well as the development of new approaches to corrective education of children with speech disorders. Particular attention is paid to her psycholinguistic model of speech development, which became the basis for modern methods of diagnosing and correcting speech disorders. Her contribution to the development of program-methodological complexes for special preschool institutions and the definition of special education standards is revealed. The influence of E. F. Sobotovich's scientific ideas on the development of speech therapy in Ukraine and abroad is analyzed, focusing on the role of the scientist in the formation of a scientific school, training personnel and the introduction of new methods into the practice of special pedagogy. A significant volume of the article is devoted to the personal contribution of the scientist to the creation of a psycholinguistic classification of speech disorders and psycholinguistic periodization of a child's speech development. Separately, the activities of E. F. Sobotovich within the Institute of Defectology of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, her participation in the preparation of regulatory documents and the development of specialized education for children with speech disorders are considered. Her organizational skills, active participation in the creation of scientific and methodological materials and curricula, which became the basis for the training of future speech therapists and special educators, are noted. The conclusions emphasize the significance of the scientific legacy of E. F. Sobotovich, which remains relevant in the modern conditions of the development of special education and speech therapy, as well as its influence on the professional community and the formation of new generations of researchers in the field of correctional pedagogy.
