Abstract The Normatively, through Law of Environmental Protection and Management, our country is committed to maintaining the quality of the environment and ensuring the sustainability of natural resources, as well as protecting people’s rights to a healthy environment. In reality, there is an environmental crisis and hydrometeorological disaster that can affect all sectors of life which directly or indirectly can cause economic, legal, and cultural injustice impacts for some people. How online media portray this condition is the focus of this study. Using the theory of media setting agenda and content analysis design in a positivistic paradigm, an analysis of 36 news of rubric “Lestari” from online news portals Kompas.Com was purposively determined. The results of the study showed that the agenda Kompas.Com more emphasized environmental justice issues than the issue of environmental damage. The themes of environmental friendliness, environmental awareness, and legal process were more dominant in environmental justice issues than other themes. The principles of environmental journalism that emphasize the aspect of environmental sustainability related to the aspects of recommendations, social awareness, and attitude formation had not all been fully actualized. Complete actualization was found more on social justice issues than on the impact of environmental damage. Of the three aspects in the principle of environmental sustainability, the aspect of social awareness and recommendations was more dominant in the overall news than the aspect of attitude formation. It is suggested that online media news more display the principles of environmental journalism in full on all environmental issues presented.
