Myopia has increased epidemically in recent years and has become a global epidemic with significant public health implications. Identifying children at risk of developing myopia and implementing strategies to prevent or delay the onset of myopia can significantly reduce the burden of myopia on the individual and society. The strong causal role of education and time spent outdoors on myopia development suggests that lifestyle changes can be applied as preventive measures to children at risk, significantly impacting the myopia epidemic by preventing myopia onset and associated ocular pathologies.
