The purpose of the study is to identify the main techniques and methods of translation from English into Russian, in particular the most commonly used translation transformations found in audiovisual translation, using the example of popular science animated video. Comparing the features of translation in dubbing and subtitling and ensuring adequate perception of the semantic information of a popular science video have become key methods of work within the framework of the above-mentioned goal. The article examines the features and main difficulties faced by audiovisual translators, and compares the translation transformations encountered in subtitling and dubbing. An empirical study of the transcript of the video in English and its translations into Russian allowed us to identify the most frequent types of transfor-mations that ensure adequate perception of semantic information by the viewer. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that for the first time the most frequently used translation transformations in-herent in dubbing and subtitling are revealed, and the differences between subtitling and dubbing as methods of translating popular science videos are presented. As a result of the research, the main tech-niques and methods of translation are highlighted, which contribute to ensuring an adequate perception of the semantic information of a popular science video.
