Abstract We present an extensive simulation study focused on the approach to, and transit through, the Stad Ship Tunnel. The study incorporates innovative developments in a simulator tool, utilising results from geospatial modelling of the fjords and tunnel, shallow-water and confined-water hydrodynamics, extended modelling of ship hydrodynamics, both seakeeping and manoeuvring, and incorporating collision-dynamics all in one time-domain code, for the calculation of a diverse set of simulation results that can still be synthesised into manageable results.
