Abstract: President Xi Jinping's Global Security Initiative is a bold strategic plan to bolster China's ties with the Global South and challenge the US-led world order to achieve China's ambitions of becoming a global power. China sees itself as offering a competitive model against liberal Western democracy that it claims better fits the governance needs of the developing world. If the West does not step up to this challenge, China will have the opportunity to fill the vacuum to the detriment of free peoples everywhere.
