This article analyzes the problems associated with the development of imagination and cognitive activity through research. The impact of the acquired knowledge, age, and personal qualities of high school students on the research activity is considered. The importance of introducing interactive tasks, methods, and research activities in lessons for comprehensive personality development is shown. Because this issue is relevant, its concern is necessary. Currently, many scientists are considering this issue to improve the educational process and to invent new educational techniques. Considered the need to introduce research into the educational process, the impact of research activity on the life path, and the development of memory, skills, imagination, abilities, and attention of high school students.The importance of a high school student's self-governing work, desire for learning, self-development for acquiring the necessary skills, and professional qualities for a future profession is explained.The relationship between thinking and cognition is explained.The concept of "Research skill" is revealed.the purpose of the research activity is determined, and the difference between selfgoverning research and research activity is considered.
