The results of a comparative historical study of dialectal formants of the plural -нар //-нәр of the Bashkir language are presented in order to restore the picture of the historical past and reveal the patterns of development of the formants -лар//-ләр > -нар//-нәр, starting from the base language. Particular attention is paid to the description of areal, dialect and literary variants of plural endings in Turkic languages. Grammar, various ancient written sources, scientific works containing samples of texts of the ancient Turkic state were used as comparative material.
