Interdisciplinary research, based on the achievements of historical science, allows us to develop simulation models in various fields of education, science, and economics, including such areas of knowledge as psychology. Understanding how the approach to defining and treating psychological illnesses has been formed over the centuries, and what factors have influenced it, is necessary for the correct development and successful use of the model. Despite the fact that the term mental health has existed for over a hundred years, monitoring the mental health of the population of states as a systematic practice began to be carried out only at the end of the 20th century. Conducting such monitoring is of great importance, since mental health affects not only the overall quality of life, but also the well-being of society as a whole, which in turn affects the macroeconomic and macrosocial indicators of the country. At the social level, the mental health of the population affects social cohesion, crime rates and economic stability. And from an economic point of view, untreated mental disorders can lead to significant economic losses due to the costs of health care, social security programs and loss of productivity. Therefore, now, when the mental state of the population can be threatened by especially many factors, such as international conflicts, it is also important to have effective medical, social and other state programs to maintain the mental health of the population, which requires reliable analytical and predictive models. As part of this study, a simulation agent model was developed, the purpose of which is to predict the dynamics of the number of people with mental disorders in the regions of the Russian Federation until 2028. Calculations showed that the number of agents with mental disorders demonstrates a slight increase. Taking into account the continuing trends in mortality, birth rate, marriage, divorce in the regions, as well as the features of the structure of the age and sex pyramid and the process of population maturation, the overall increase in the number of agents with mental disorders in the country amounted to 3,944 people, which is equivalent to 1.4 %. Regions with the highest and lowest rates of probability of a person getting a mental disorder were also identified.
