The development of Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS) has evolved from traditional rule-based engines to advanced platforms powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI), enabling highly personalized learning experiences. Despite these advancements, a critical gap persists in extending such intelligent systems to the domain of career coaching, which inherently demands nuanced, context-aware, and multi-dimensional guidance. This paper introduces MentorMe.AI, a novel, personalized career coaching system that harnesses the power of Generative AI (GenAI) and avatar-based technology to deliver adaptive, emotionally-aware, and user-centric guidance. Building upon the foundational principles of ITS and conversational AI, MentorMe.AI overcomes the limitations of conventional, static career advice by offering a dynamic, interactive coaching experience. The system architecture integrates a GenAI-driven dialogue engine with an emotion-aware avatar, designed to provide real-time feedback, identify user strengths and weaknesses, and foster self-directed learning. Through a comprehensive methodology—comprising an advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) pipeline and a constructivist approach to detecting and addressing unproductive behaviors—this research demonstrates how MentorMe.AI enhances user engagement and delivers a more effective, scalable, and empathetic career coaching experience.
