Abstract The article is devoted to studying the peculiarities of microstructure formation and properties of structural high-strength low-alloy steel with an original chemical composition in the strength class CT 80 according to API Specification 5ST. Using electron microscopy methods, the microstructure of laboratory samples of coiled sheet metal was investigated after various temperature modes of deformation processing (parameters of controlled rolling and accelerated cooling). Based on the obtained data, the most favorable microstructure for achieving a high level of toughness-plasticity properties at the specified strength level of CT 80 grade steel has been determined.
