Dance is a comprehensive performing art, with narrative expression and body language serving as dual dimensions of creation. This paper theoretically discusses the artistic characteristics and functions of narrative expression in dance, analyzing the central role of body language in dance creation and its intrinsic connection with narrative expression. Through an in-depth analysis of the current state of contemporary dance creation, it uncovers the limitations of traditional narrative modes, the homogenization trend in body language expression, and the misalignment between audience aesthetic needs and creative practices. Addressing these issues, this paper proposes innovative approaches to narrative expression and body language in dance creation, exploring diverse narrative structures, breaking free from linear narrative constraints, expanding the vocabulary of body language, enhancing movement expressiveness, promoting cross-disciplinary integration, and updating modes of expression. It aims to provide theoretical support and practical guidance for dance creation, fostering innovative development in narrative and body language aspects of dance art.
