The article considers the relevance of monitoring unused agricultural land in order to initially assess the possibility of their involvement in economic turnover, identifies the main reasons for the reduction in the area of agricultural land, analyzes the elements of assessing the condition of unused land and the economic costs of reclamation measures. Based on the methodology for assessing the possibility of introducing agricultural land into circulation, which defines criteria for classifying a site as a wooded area, a software toolkit has been developed that allows searching for unclaimed areas overgrown with woody and shrubby vegetation, assessing the degree of wooded area and calculating the economic costs of its reclamation. The purpose of the work was to evaluate the effectiveness of the application of the programmatic implementation of the methodology for assessing the condition of agricultural land in order to monitor its rational use and the possibility of their return to agricultural circulation.
