The article discusses the current issues of legal regulation of forensic expert activities in the Russian Federation. It analyzes the shortcomings of the existing legislation, such as its limited scope, lack of unified standards and requirements for non-state experts, and insufficient mechanisms for quality control and ensuring the independence of experts. The article also focuses on the new legislation aimed at modernizing the forensic expert field. It highlights the key provisions of the new law regarding the requirements for expert qualifications, certification, standardization of methods, and ensuring the independence and accountability of experts.
