Abstract

This study has examined the impact of calcination temperature on the pozzolanic properties of magnesium-rich jade powder (MRJP). MRJP was activated and its effectiveness was evaluated using cement mortar strength tests. The samples were calcined at 600°C to 1,200°C and then mixed with slag to create geopolymers. These samples were tested for compressive strength and analyzed using microtechniques to understand the reaction mechanisms. The findings indicated that at 800°C, MRJP reacts to form new silicates that, upon activation of the alkali, produce a hydration gel of C─ S─ H, C─ A─ H, and M─ S─ H. The compound-activated MRJP demonstrated superior pozzolanic activity, with compressive strength results 64% higher than traditional pozzolana.
