Afrofuturism is a cultural movement that explores African narratives in futuristic contexts, offering insights into potential and imagined futures for Africa. The research employs both qualitative interviews with policymakers and community leaders, and quantitative analysis of social media sentiment towards Afrofuturism themes in Senegal. A thematic analysis revealed that Afrofuturist narratives often emphasise technological advancements and cultural preservation as key drivers for positive societal change in Senegalese discourse. Social media data indicated a growing interest in Afrofuturist themes, with an increase of 20% in posts mentioning these concepts over the past year. Afrofuturism presents a valuable framework for understanding contemporary Senegalese aspirations and challenges related to future development. Policy makers should consider incorporating Afrofuturist perspectives into their planning processes, while social media platforms could facilitate more inclusive dialogues on potential futures in Senegal.
