The aim of the present study was to evaluate phytochemical constituents, in vitro antioxidant and anti arthritis activities of leaves of Drypetesgossweileri (D. Euphorbiaceae) collected from Bhopal region of Madhya Pradesh. For plant Drypetesgossweileri the same pattern seems to be followed as the Ethanolic extract contain enhanced amount of total Phenol 0.55±0.040) compared to control group up to 28 days, respectively. The experimental model of poly arthritis induced by CFA on rat is widely used for preclinical testing of numerous anti-arthritic agents. Drypetes Gossweileri extracts suppressed the swelling of paws in both arthritis models. As a result of inflammatory cells accumulating, joint cartilage erosion and bone destruction, rats were selected for the current study to induce arthritis. It may be because Complete Freund's Adjuvant suppresses the inflammatory mediator released during induction. Drypetes Gossweileri The effect of extract Drypetes were determined after administration at two dose level (100 and 200 mg/kg b.w.) in arthritis-induced rats. From the results, it may be concluded that Drypetes Gossweileri show a significant anti-arthritic effect may be due to the effect of antioxidants like Flavonoid, phenols and saponins present in the plant. As a result of the present study, all of these biological activities have been found to be promising. These contributions can be used as parameters for the authentication of plants or for the development of newer drugs based on their activity. Several therapeutic advantages of an herbal drug are evident in the present study, and it is likely that it will be a potent anti-arthritis agent as well.
