This paper compares the setting and characteristics of college physics exercises in Chinese and American textbooks. Significant differences exist between the two countries in terms of exercise quantity, content selection, and problem description. A more in-depth study of how exercises are selected and coordinated with textbook content is essential to address the shortcomings in exercise design in domestic textbooks. Drawing on years of bilingual teaching practice in university physics, this paper integrates and complements the strengths of both Chinese and English textbooks, aiming to guide students toward efficient and targeted self-learning.
