Archaeological monitoring (watching brief) undertaken by Cornwall Archaeological Unit. A single narrow, shallow gully ran approximately southeast-northwest across the northwest corner of the site. Finds were limited to two pieces of flint (both probably beach flint) recovered from the topsoil. A series of granite blocks and/or slabs with carved faces (see Fig 3) was observed making up a substantial intermittent section of the roadside field boundary wall along the northern edge of the site, on the south side of the B3315. The fieldworker reported that local residents had informed him the field boundary wall was built in the 1970s (or 1980s) and that these stones probably came from several cottages nearby which were demolished prior to this.
