ABSTRACT ‐coincidence wide‐gap (WG) frequency‐hopping (FH) sequence (FHS) sets, which integrate the distinctive features of both WG and ‐coincidence FHS sets, have important applications in FH communication systems. This letter derives the theoretical lower bounds on the maximum periodic Hamming correlation for ‐coincidence WG FHS sets and puts forward a method for designing optimal ‐coincidence WG FHS sets. Furthermore, this new approach is also capable of generating optimal ‐coincidence uniform special WG FHS sets.
