Heterogeneity of Texture and Anisotropy of Mechanical Properties of Sheets made of Alloys B-1480 and B-1481

The layer-by-layer heterogeneity of the crystallographic texture and the anisotropy of mechanical properties under tension of 1. 4 mm thick sheets of Al-Cu-Li-Ag alloys of grades B-1480 and B-1481 were investigated. It was shown that the texture of sheets of both alloys is characterized by layer-by-layer heterogeneity, with a middle layer of thickness -0. 5 being distinguished, in which a texture of the «brass» type 110 is formed, which is much more intense in the B-1480 alloy, which is characterized by significant anisotropy of mechanical properties. In the B-1481 alloy, a weakly expressed texture is formed and anisotropy of the yield strength and tensile strength is practically absent. The strength indices in the RD and TD of the V-1480 alloy are significantly higher than those of the V-1481 alloy, however, the minimum indices for both alloys are the same due to the low strength properties of the textured V-1480 alloy in the 45° direction. In the surface layers of the V-1481 alloy sheets, a recrystallized structure with a cubic texture 100 is formed, characterized by an increased Taylor factor in the 45° direction, which compensates for the reduced strength in this direction in the middle part of the sheet with a “brass” texture, which causes isotropy of the strength properties of the alloy sheets.
