Field research stations play a crucial role in agricultural development in Rwanda, aiming to enhance productivity through systematic monitoring and evaluation. A Randomized Field Trial (RFT) approach was employed to assess the performance of field research stations. Data collection included both quantitative and qualitative methods, ensuring comprehensive evaluation. The analysis revealed a significant improvement in crop yields by 15% among randomized fields compared to non-randomized ones, highlighting the effectiveness of the RFT methodology in measuring efficiency gains. This study underscores the importance of systematic evaluation in enhancing agricultural research station performance and resource utilization. Based on these findings, recommendations for optimising field research stations are proposed, focusing on improved resource allocation and monitoring protocols.
