HMGB1-mediated enhancement of glycolysis activates hepatic stellate cells by inhibiting ferroptosis in alcoholic hepatic fibrosis
Key Points
The aim is to explore how HMGB1 influences glycolysis and ferroptosis in hepatic stellate cells involved in alcoholic hepatic fibrosis.
Investigated the role of HMGB1 in hepatic stellate cells' metabolism.
Examined the relationship between glycolysis and ferroptosis.
Analyzed the progression of alcoholic hepatic fibrosis.
HMGB1 enhanced glycolysis in hepatic stellate cells.
Inhibition of ferroptosis was observed.
Activation of hepatic stellate cells contributed to the progression of alcoholic hepatic fibrosis.
Abstract
In summary, HMGB1 promoted the metabolism of HSCs towards glycolysis to inhibit ferroptosis, which eventually led to the activation of HSCs and the progression of AHF.
