Digital journalism in Kenya has emerged as a significant aspect of media landscape, with rapid advancements in digital technologies and internet penetration driving its growth. However, challenges such as limited resources and regulatory frameworks pose constraints to its development. A comprehensive survey approach was employed, utilising online questionnaires distributed among journalists, editors, and industry stakeholders. Data were analysed using thematic analysis to identify common themes and patterns. The survey revealed that while there is a notable presence of digital journalism in urban areas, financial constraints significantly limit the scope and quality of content produced. Additionally, regulatory ambiguity hampers innovation and growth within the sector. Despite these challenges, the findings suggest that with targeted support and clearer regulatory guidance, digital journalism can flourish in Kenya's urban environment, potentially leading to more informed and engaged communities. Policymakers should prioritise funding initiatives for digital journalism projects, while industry bodies could advocate for streamlined regulations that encourage innovation without undue risk. Educational institutions also have a role to play by training future journalists in digital skills. Digital Journalism, Urban Context, Kenya, Challenges, Opportunities
