Since consumer products contain a variety of unknown chemical components with no recognized health risks, it is essential to identify heavy metals in these products to evaluate their safety and potential health impacts. In this study, a mixture of carboxylic multiwalled carbon nanotubes-ionic liquid (MWCNTs-COOH-IL) was used as an adsorbent for the extraction, separation, and preconcentration of heavy metals (Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn, Pb, and Cd) from various brands of hair care products (hair shampoo, hair dyes, and hair treatments) at pH=7, using the solid phase microextraction (SPME) method before determination by flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (F-AAS). The range of heavy metals such as iron (Fe), copper (Cu), zinc(Zn), manganese(Mn), lead(Pb) and cadmium(Cd) was determined after microwave digestion (MWD) using the SPME procedure at various concentrations (Fe:3.35-23.18 mgL-1, 3.74-21.69 mgL-1, and 6.42-21.13 mgL-1), (Cu:0.107-8.88 mgL-1, 0.002-0.254 mgL-1, and 0.024-0.508 mgL-1), (Zn:0.34-1.26 mgL-1, 0.26-1.95 mgL-1, and 0.457-4.59 mgL-1), (Mn:0.075-2.68 mgL-1, 0.084-1.29 mgL-1, and 0.135-1.162mgL-1), (Pb:0.05-1.217mgL-1, 0.101-0.934mgL-1, and 0.253-13.24mgL-1) and (Cd:0.003-0.444 mgL-1, 0.002-0.033 mgL-1, and 0.0-0.044 mgL-1) for hair shampoo, hair dyes, and hair treatments, respectively. The LOQ and linear range (LR) were achieved between 0.2-5.0 µg L-1 and 0.5-100 µg L-1, respectively (RSD< 5%).
