This scoping review aims to map and describe the scientific literature on the relationship between aging and swallowing, with a focus on both presbyphagia (physiological changes due to natural aging) and oropharyngeal dysphagia. The review explores how these concepts are defined, related, assessed, and supported by theoretical and empirical frameworks. It follows the JBI methodology and the PRISMA-ScR reporting guideline. The search strategy includes MeSH terms "deglutition disorders" OR "deglutition" AND "aged" and will be adapted to each database. Studies will be included regardless of date, language, or setting. Grey literature will also be considered. This protocol builds upon a prior critical Letter to the Editor published in Dysphagia (2025), reinforcing the analytical capacity of the team and the relevance of this topic for evidence-based care in older adults.
