INTRODUCTION The period from February to July 2025 marked a phase of significant academic, organizational, and outreach achievements for the Haryana Ophthalmological Society (HOS). Under the leadership of Dr. Rajan Gupta, the society continued to strengthen its presence across Haryana by promoting high-quality education, expanding membership, elevating digital infrastructure, and fostering collaboration with national and international ophthalmic bodies. MEMBERSHIP GROWTH AND DIGITAL ENHANCEMENT HOS now comprises 1181 active members, including 78 new additions in 2025, with a special focus on young ophthalmologists and postgraduate residents. This growing participation reflects society’s increasing influence and its commitment to nurturing the next generation of eye-care professionals. The official HOS website has undergone meaningful upgrades, ensuring secure digital member records, dynamic data management, and seamless online membership and abstract submissions. These enhancements continue to improve accessibility and streamline administrative processes. ACADEMIC EVENTS AND CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION HOS conducted an impressive number of academic activities during this period, covering a wide range of subspecialties. Events were hosted at various medical institutions across Haryana, ensuring widespread access to updated knowledge. Key events included: Continuing Medical Education (CME) on vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) Inhibitors, Karnal (23 Feb 2025) CME on Glaucoma Update, Karnal (8 Mar 2025) World Glaucoma Week activities, Rohtak and Jhajjar (9–15 Mar 2025) APAO–AIOS International Conference, New Delhi (3–6 Apr 2025) Scientific Committee CME (SFOS), Sirsa (19 Apr 2025) 4th Annual ACOIN Meeting, Kurukshetra (25–27 Apr 2025) Dry Eye CME, Panchkula (9 May 2025) New Generation IOL Symposium, Hisar (21 May 2025) Glaucoma CME – ”Surface to Disc”, Rohtak (31 May 2025) CME SFOS, Sirsa (7 June 2025) Masterclass by Dr. Ramanjit Sihota, IG Eye Hospital (29 May 2025) 75th Annual DOS Conference, New Delhi (13–15 June 2025) Retina Imaging Workshop, Ambala (20 July 2025). These programs were well-received and contributed substantially to strengthening clinical and surgical expertise within the state’s ophthalmic community. PAGE 2 Competitive sessions and achievements The Free Paper Competitive Session at the Annual HOS Meeting 2025 saw enthusiastic participation from young ophthalmologists. Finalists included Dr. Neha Yadav, Dr. Sweety Dhania, Dr. Nidhi Sharma, Dr. Vaishali, Dr. Abhimanyu Sharma, and Dr. Jyoti Karwasra. Dr. Abhimanyu Sharma emerged as the winner, and his research paper was subsequently submitted to AIOS for national-level consideration. HOS was prominently represented at the APAO–AIOS 2025 Conference in New Delhi, showcasing Haryana’s academic strength on an international platform. Notably, Dr. Maheep Bansal successfully completed the Leadership Development Program (LDP), while Dr. Sukriti Gupta was inducted as the new HOS nominee for the next LDP cycle. Publications and editorial work The Haryana Journal of Ophthalmology continues to be a cornerstone of academic communication. Under the editorship of Dr. Deependra V. Singh and his dedicated team, the latest Volume 16, Issue 3 was published, featuring a diverse array of scientific articles, case reports, and academic contributions from across the state. PG teaching and collaborative initiatives The society expanded its educational outreach through the HOST PG Teaching Programme, focusing on building academic bridges between institutions and enhancing the learning experience for postgraduates. HOS has invited ophthalmology departments across Haryana to collaborate on both academic and nonacademic fronts to support postgraduate development. CONCLUSION The first half of 2025 has been marked by dynamic academic growth, leadership achievements, and an expanding impact across Haryana. HOS continues to evolve as a vibrant, progressive ophthalmic society committed to excellence in education, collaboration, research, and community service. The momentum gained during this period sets a strong foundation for future initiatives in the coming months.
