Experiential knowledge is attracting increasing interest in the health sciences. This article aims to clarify the notions of « knowledge » and « experience » in order to better understand their articulation as « experiential knowledge ». Starting from their common root - experience - related notions such as « experiential understanding », « expert knowledge » and « patient experience » are examined. Often dismissed as lay knowledge, experiential knowledge invites reflection on epistemic injustices and calls for the promotion of knowledge equality in the name of epistemic justice.
