Does preoperative comprehensive geriatric assessment and optimization reduce length of hospital stay and complications in patients aged 65 years or older undergoing vascular surgery?
Preoperative comprehensive geriatric assessment and optimization improves clinical outcomes and reduces hospital length of stay in older patients undergoing vascular surgery.
In this study of patients aged 65 years or older undergoing vascular surgery, preoperative comprehensive geriatric assessment was associated with a shorter length of hospital stay. Patients undergoing assessment and optimization had a lower incidence of complications and were less likely to be discharged to a higher level of dependency.
