An archaeological watching brief was undertaken at Plot 2 at land of Mill Lane, Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire ahead of the erection of new dwellings, on behalf of Goldhawk Developments Ltd. The work was carried out in accordance with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists' Standard and guidance for an archaeological watching brief (CIfA 2023). The footprint of the new dwelling was excavated by opening an area measuring 14m by 8m. The area revealed the ditch and the gully encountered in evaluation trench 2 but showed that they were not intercutting. Gully 4/8 discontinued there where ditch 6/10 continued to the north. Some fragments of animal bone were recovered from ditch 6/10, but the anticipated Iron Age date from the very abrasive sherd found during the evaluation, could not be confirmed.
