The Indian College of Anesthesiologists (ICA) mourns the profound loss of Dr. Kirti Nath Saxena, one of its founding members, a distinguished leader, and an unwavering pillar of the organization. Dr. Saxena joined the medical community as an undergraduate at Maulana Azad Medical College in 1978 and later completed her postgraduate training in anesthesiology at the same institution. Her marriage to Dr. Yogesh Saxena in 1984 was a loving and supportive partnership, and they were blessed with two sons, Anshuman and Prashant. Dr. Saxena has had a long, inseparable, and illustrious relationship with ICA since its founding. As one of the original members, she played a key role in shaping the vision, values, and growth of the college. Her tireless service on the Executive Council reflected her deep commitment to enhancing academic excellence, ethical practices, and professional unity among anesthesiologists across the country. She served with great distinction as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the ICA. Under her dynamic and visionary leadership, the journal achieved new academic heights. Her dedication never wavered – her commitment was evident until the very end, with the latest issue being released successfully just 1 week before her passing, a testament to her unwavering sense of responsibility and devotion to scholarship. Dr. Saxena was honored with the prestigious Oration at the ICA Annual Conference in Lucknow last year, recognizing her exceptional academic record, leadership, and lifelong contributions to anesthesiology and ICA. Her insights, guidance, and constructive input greatly enriched the society and played a key role in its sustained growth and credibility. Beyond her numerous accomplishments, Dr. Kirti N. Saxena will always be remembered as a principled, fearless, and straightforward leader, a brilliant clinician, an inspiring teacher, and above all, a kind, compassionate, and honest person who never hesitated to stand up for what was right. Her passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the ICA fraternity and the broader medical community. The ICA offers its deepest condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, and students. We bow in respect and gratitude for her life of service, integrity, and excellence. Her legacy will continue to guide ICA for generations to come. May her noble soul rest in eternal peace.
