Chinese patent medicines oral liquid has significant application value in the treatment of clinical emergency and critical care diseases. Currently, there are some important factors restricting the safe and effective use of commonly used oral liquid Chinese patent medicines, including insufficient research data on the dispensing, a lack of standardized protocols for the dispensing process, and the need for enhanced training among dispensing personnel. The group standard “ Technical Specifications for Dispensing Commonly Used Chinese Patent Medicines in in Clinical Emergency and Critical Care, Part 6: Oral Liquids ” released by the China Association of Chinese Medicine and developed under the leadership of the Sixth People’s Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, is conducive to guiding the standardized development of dispensing techniques for commonly used oral liquid Chinese patent medicines in clinical emergency and critical care. This article interprets this standard in detail, with a particular focus on nine key technologies for dispensing oral liquid Chinese patent medicines in critical and emergency care, purchase and acceptance inspection, inventory management, prescription review, prescription dispensing, prescription verification, drug distribution and medication instruction, medication monitoring, prescription evaluation, and pharmacovigilance. This article aims to help pharmacists in various medical institutions at all levels better understand and apply these standards to dispense clinical oral liquid Chinese patent medicines in critical and emergency care, thereby enhancing the quality of pharmaceutical care.
