A multilayer composite material, AMg6–VnPl-1 (vanadium)–12Cr18Ni10Ti, was produced using explosion welding. An explosion welding process was studied using high-speed photography. It was shown that during the collision of layers, the vertical oscillation of the intermediate vanadium layer occurs, leading to a change in the height of the welding gaps between the layers being joined. This change in gap height, in turn, causes sharp disturbances in the shock-compressed gas propagation region, leading to changes in its geometric and thermodynamic parameters, which negatively impacts the joint formation process’ stability.
